The quad-axle chassis has a 289" wheelbase, a 99.9" front axle to back of cab, 189.1" cab to axle, and 243.8" cab to end of frame. It carries an 18' Heritage Steel Smooth Side end dump body with a quad hi-lift tailgate setup. GVWR is 85,000 lbs and GCW is 95,000 lbs, with a maximum grade rating of 6%. The powertrain is optimized for performance in vocational applications and heavy GCWR work.
Engine & Drivetrain
The engine is an X15 rated at 525 HP @ 1,900 RPM, governed at 2,000 RPM, with 1,850 lb-ft of torque @ 1,000 RPM. It is a production series engine built to 2024 emissions standards and is EPA emission and idling compliant. It drives an Allison 4500 RDS-P Rugged Duty Series Gen 6 automatic transmission in a 6-speed configuration. The transmission has a TC-561 torque converter, a dash-mounted push-button shifter, Primary Shift Schedule 2 and the HS/RDS Package 223. Auto neutral engages with the parking brake, and the transmission also shifts to neutral at stops. A Jacobs compression brake is fitted, with controls on the right-hand column.
The engine has a PACCAR premium starter and a PACCAR 160-amp brushed alternator. It runs on three PACCAR premium 12V dual-purpose batteries totaling 2,190 CCA. Other engine equipment includes a 37.4 CFM air compressor, a 2-speed fan clutch for frequent starts and stops, and a high-efficiency cooling system. The truck also has a 110–120V immersion block heater, a Davco 382 fuel/water separator, a fuel cooler and an engine protection shutdown. Air intake runs through 15" premium stainless steel cowl-mounted air cleaners with slotted stainless caps. The dual exhaust has the DPF/SCR mounted under the right side of the cab in a single module. A left-hand stack carries a 7" chrome-plated steel standpipe, 36" tall, with a 45-degree cut curved tip.
The SPL170 HD-XL driveline has two midship bearings and an SPL170 XL interaxle driveline. The rear axle ratio is 4.10, and typical operating speed is set at 70 MPH. The truck also has a remote PTO/throttle provision (12-pin, in the engine bay) and EMUX electronics architecture.
Chassis & Axles
The frame uses 10-3/4" steel rails at 3/8" thickness with a full steel inner liner. The rails are zinc-coated and anti-corrosion treated, with aluminum crossmembers and heavy-duty iron front spring brackets. The end of frame is square with no crossmember, so the body builder can install one, and two Holland TH-10050 tow hooks are mounted there.
Up front is a PACCAR FX-20 wide-track steer axle rated 20,000 lbs with a 4" drop. It has PHP10 iron Preset+ hubs, Bendix ADB22X air disc brakes and greasable front spring pins. Steering uses a Sheppard HD94 dual-gear power steering system with a frame-mounted reservoir and cooler.
The rear tandem is a Dana Spicer D46-172 rated 46,000 lbs. It has heavy-wall drive axles, PHP10 aluminum Preset+ hubs and Bendix ADB22X air disc brakes. Tandem diff locks with a speed interlock are included, and all axles use synthetic lubricant. Two Watson-Chalin SL13 self-steering pusher axles are rated 13,500 lbs each and come with two air tanks. They are spaced 49" and 98" from the centerline of the forward drive axle, with aluminum Preset+ hubs and cast drums. The pusher axles are rated 13,220 lbs. Lift axle regulators are bracket-mounted on the frame, with switches and gauges in the dash. Lifted axles stow higher for more ground clearance. Engineering-assigned ratings are 19,840 lbs GAWR front, 13,220 lbs first intermediate, 23,000 lbs second intermediate and 23,000 lbs rear.
Safety systems include Bendix ESP Electronic Stability Program with ATC (with a switch to turn off traction control), 6S6M ABS, an SBM valve and a tire pressure monitoring system.
The truck has a single 110-gallon polished aluminum fuel tank under the left side of the cab, with a polished non-slip step and polished tank straps. A small 14-gallon DEF tank is mounted on the left side behind the cab and has a polished stainless cover. The aluminum space-saver battery box sits on the right side behind the cab, is polished and opens from the side. A polished aluminum non-slip aftertreatment cab entry step is on the right side under the cab.
The front end has a chromed steel Texas-style bumper with two tow points and a heavy-duty external tow eye. The air system uses a Bendix AD-HF EP air dryer with a heater, coalescing filter and extended purge. Polished aluminum air tanks are mounted outside the frame rails, with pull cords on every tank and nylon chassis hose. Body connections are 5' behind the cab, and a 7-way socket is at the end of frame.
Suspension
The rear suspension is a Hendrickson HMX EX 460 HaulMaax rated 46,000 lbs. It has a 54" axle spread, a 70K creep rating and dedicated shock absorbers. The front suspension uses 20,000 lb taper leaf springs with Tenneco shocks and 70 mm spring spacer blocks. The cab rides on cab air suspension.
Cab & Interior
The aluminum day cab has a 131" BBC aluminum hood with a polished crown and spring tilt assist. The Premier interior is finished in Alpine Gray with a rubber floor and a black seat color. The driver seat is a Peterbilt LX premium-level seat: high back, air ride, leather and heated, with a right-hand armrest. The passenger seat is a Peterbilt ST: high back, air ride and vinyl, with a left-hand armrest. The leather-wrapped premium multi-function steering wheel has audio and cruise controls and sits on a tilt/telescoping column.
The main instrument panel is a 15" digital cluster. It shows engine oil, transmission, and front and rear drive axle oil temperatures. It also displays turbo boost, engine percent torque, air filter restriction, brake application air pressure and pressure for both pusher axles.
The 7" infotainment display includes Apple CarPlay. A 6-speaker premium sound package with tweeters mutes when the transmission is in reverse. The cab also has a Cobra 29 CB radio in the header, with two 48" mirror-mounted antennas, and global telematics hardware. Comfort and convenience features include Peterbilt keyless entry, power locks and windows, and a combination fresh-air heater and A/C. Thermal and SmartSound insulation packages, an ambient lighting package, vanity mirrors on the sunvisors and a deep record/map pocket on the rear wall round out the interior. Three additional dash switches are installed.
On the outside, the cab has a stainless V-style sunvisor and 7"x18" heated, motorized stainless West Coast mirrors. Two 8" heated convex mirrors sit under the mirror brackets, and a look-down mirror is mounted over the passenger door. The cab also has dark window tint, a one-piece curved windshield and a fixed one-piece rear window. Additional exterior equipment includes 2" fender lips, dual 30" round chrome air horns with polished shields, an NFPA-compliant textured exterior grab handle and a removable bug screen.
The headlights are heated LED pods with integral turn signals. Lighting also includes five LED bullet marker lights, LED turn signals on the mirrors, two bracket-mounted LED load lights and daytime running lights. Wiring and switches are pre-run for fog lights, beacon/strobe lights and auxiliary marker lights. The truck also has a 107 dB backup alarm, a fire extinguisher and a triangle reflector kit. The cab and hood are painted Ice Jade (Axalta two-stage metallic/pearl), and the frame is black.
Body & Equipment
The Heritage Steel Smooth Side dump body is 18' long and 99" wide. Its 54" sides are 5/32" AR-450 with a front post only, a 3/16" rear post, a formed 5/32" AR-450 top rail and 2" x 8" sideboards. The floor is 3/16" AR-450 with 3/16" formed longsills, no crossmembers and a formed bottom rail. The 5/32" AR-450 bulkhead has a full-width 12" cab shield in 10-gauge material, with a 6" face and a tarp deflector.
The 60" tailgate is 3/16" AR-450 with two panels and horizontal bracing only. It has an overslung top hinge and an air-operated hi-lift, with the cylinders in the rear posts behind access panels. Tailgate chains, air tailgate controls and salt locks on both sides are installed.
The hoist is a pin-to-pin telescopic front hoist. It runs from a Hotshift PTO for the Allison automatic, with a direct-mount pump and shifter valve. Feathering valve air control sits in a tower between the seats, which also holds the body, strobe and tarp controls. A pump kickout switch is installed at the rear. Hydraulic oil comes from an upright 35-gallon aluminum tank behind the cab through a 3-line system with shutoff valves. Dash lights show when the PTO is engaged and when the body is up. Chassis PTO control is a single-acting electric-over-hydraulic switch on the dash.
The tarp is an Aero electric arm flip system in asphalt, with a wind screen in front of the cab shield, without expandable sides or a rear flap. A pull-out ladder sits below the bottom rail on the driver-side front panel, and front inside steps are included. Front mud flaps are 30" Heritage flaps with anti-sail brackets, and the rear Heritage flaps hang on straps with chains. Other equipment includes a driver-side shovel holder, an 8" bolt-on rear apron, an aluminum diamond-plate deck plate between the tank and the body, a body prop and a backup alarm.
The LED light package has combo lights in the rear posts and marker lights in the front posts. There are two front strobes on the cab shield, one at the top of each front post, and one strobe in each rear post. Round combo lights sit in the rear chassis plate, and the ID cluster is on the hinge. Body overhang is about 13", plus the 8" apron. The body is sandblasted, primed and painted black, with black boards.
