Case IH Showcasing All-New AF11 Combine At The National Farm Machinery Show

    Case IH is showing a new, fully redesigned combine called the AF11 at the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Kentucky February 14-17, 2024. The Class 10+ combine is the first in the manufacturer’s AF series and was engineered to maximize time and productivity in the field. Case IH will market the AF11 in North America.

    “We recognize growers have an increasing amount of ground to cover while facing unpredictable harvest windows and labor shortages. With the AF11, Case IH addresses these variables head-on,” says Leo Bose, Case IH harvesting segment leader. “We see this machine as a way to drive capacity, bring state-of-the-art technology and bottom-line benefits for our customers, while also providing the reliability that customers have come to expect from Case IH.”

    AF11’s Greater Harvesting Capacity

    Case IH’s new AF11 combine has a 567-bushel grain tank—39% larger than previous models—and a 6-bushel-per-second unload rate, allowing it to unload completely within 100 seconds. It has a fuel-efficient, 775-horsepower (578-kilowatt) engine and a large 396-gallon (1,500-liter) fuel tank to help keep it in the field longer.

    The AF11 uses Case IH’s first dual rotor, the AFXL2. The AFXL2 creates a bigger threshing and separating area and provides 50% more separation over previous models thanks to a longer rotor. HX+ rasp bars in an all-new stepped rotor cage contribute to effective grain separation even with crops with higher moisture content. At the same time, the AF11’s redesigned, active, and dynamic grain cleaning system is 45% larger than previous models to facilitate higher throughput.

    AF11’s Matched Capacity, Speed & Throughput

    Being a Case IH Axial-Flow combine, the new AF11 supplies matched capacity all the way through it, “from header to spreader” in the manufacturer’s words. “Our product development process, which is centered around farmers, identified the need for matched capacity, speed, and throughput,” Bose says. “The AFXL2 dual rotor technology drives that capability to harvest more in less time.”

    The AF11’s speed and throughput come with steady crop flow, reduced grain loss, and radar-controlled residue management. The operator can adjust the residue system’s chop quality and chop/swath control from the cab. The combine uses automated residue spread compensation for an even spread pattern, even in windy weather.

    “I would say (the AF11) makes us look differently at our future options. If we can cut our (grain) losses, do more in a day, burn less fuel and lose less out of the back of the combine—that’s a real advantage,” says Canadian farmer Drew Baker of the Winnipeg, Manitoba area.

    The comfortable cab of the AF11 comes with an upgraded heating and air conditioning system, an electric refrigerator, and seats with heating, cooling, and massaging settings. Clean sight lines and halogen stadium lighting let the operator maintain visibility on the full length of the header even after dusk.

    The AF11’s Advanced Farming Systems (AFS) includes the AFS Harvest Command combine automation solution. Using one of two AFS Pro 1200 displays in the cab, the operator can select from four automation modes to prioritize throughput, grain quality, or grain savings. Case IH says that its technologies can simplify harvest operations, help less experienced workers be more productive, and help farmers to improve their ROI through shared analytics and diagnostics.
