New Ferris 300S Entry-Level Zero-Turn Mower Built With Premium Features

Posted On: Monday, 31 October 2022

The new 300S doesn’t offer all the bells and whistles found on Ferris' higher-priced commercial zero-turn mowers, but the new mower is built with a few key Ferris structural components designed to reduce the impact of uneven terrain on the chassis and operator. The manufacturer says that reducing the effects of uneven terrain also gives the 300S improved traction and lets operators maintain higher speeds, allowing them to do more in less time.

“The Ferris 300S is a fantastic option for users looking for a zero-turn at an accessible price point that doesn’t skimp on commercial-grade features and offers the suspension found on our higher-priced models,” says Christin Wam, senior director of marketing, Briggs & Stratton. “We’re confident that users will appreciate both the cut quality and comfort of the unit not found on competitive models in this range.”

    Optional Features

Details about the Ferris 300S are still few, but Ferris indicates the mower will be available with 42-, 48-, and 52-inch (107-, 122-, and 132-centimeter) cutting decks. The 42-in. 300S has Ferris’ coil-over shocks suspension on the rear of the deck with springs that stiffen when compressed and a damper to manage how fast the springs move up or down. The 48- and 52-in. deck options boast Ferris’ patented four-point suspension, which reduces impact from uneven terrain on the operator. All of the mower decks are made from fully fabricated steel. Ferris equips the 300S with a Briggs & Stratton PXi OHV V-twin engine.

    Ferris Zero-Turn Mowers

Ferris offers a wide range of zero-turn mowers. On the top end, you’ll find models like the powerful IS 6200, with a 48 horsepower Caterpillar diesel engine, and the ISX 3330, with the powersport-inspired ForeFront Suspension System featuring four solid control rods and hardened radial ends. The 300S is more closely aligned with Ferris’ more affordable zero-turn models, like the 500S (released in 2021) and compact F60.
